Rubin van Niekerk founded Africa’s first gay business association, The Family Business, in 1992 and their newsletter became the Gay Pages. The first edition was published a year later on Human Rights Day, 10 December 1994. As the most recognisable name in the gay community of South Africa we are known globally. This beautiful publication has a global audience due to riveting content for sophisticated readers.
Gay Pages celebrated its 30th birthday in 2023. As South Africa’s only glossy gay magazine with comprehensive global distribution in print, digital and APP, it retails at many outlets. It is available at airport lounges, top hotels, game lodges, embassies, clubs and events, as premium brands benefit from the affluent, brand loyal gay consumer segment. We write gay history.
