THE GRAND FINALE 2010

by JUAN L’ERM

It all started on the boat cruise to the Mozambican islands with Rainbow Cruises. All the finalists plus a few judges went on this exciting four-day journey. Nico Steyn and Duy Vo Lap did fashion shoots, product placement shots and fun shots, while the guys were left to party and be judged. Fabulous food, themed parties, wonderful company and great weather made this part of the judging process an unbelievable experience for all. Imagine fifteen of the best looking gay men in SA on one cruise liner in designer underwear and swimwear around the pool and on deck at the parties! The cruise was a great success, from the French Champagne cocktail party hosted by Kempinski, to the boys running wild in Maputo and the Portuguese islands, to the fun and dancing on the deck and all that went with it. Gorgeous boys with rippling bodies running riot on the cruise – what more can a man ask for?

The new Mr. Gay South Africa, the wonderful Charl van den Berg was crowned at a glam affair at a packed Opera House of the State Theatre. Jose Rodriques was second and Iggy Mnisi was third. Entertainment included the Queen of the Extravaganza stage, Miss Judy Page, crooner Tim Moloi, your (air) hostess in charge, Miss Cathy Specific, eye candy MC, Jason Greer, entertainer extraordinaire Kevin Ellis and pianist, Marius Erlank.

And now, in 2010, we are looking for the next great SA dream guy to take over from Charl. An easy task it will not be – he is making us proud day after day!

From the directors, a huge thank you to all – to Anne Williams (Director), Nico Steyn (Film Director), Duy Vo Lap (photographer), Mairi Cameroon, Christiaan Harris, Pieter Roux, Gerrit Prinsloo and AVL Africa.
