One of Joburg’s best kept secrets.
If you love Chinese seafood, this is the place for you! Don’t worry about the lack of ambience and décor that’s seen better days, just take your first bite and you’ll be in culinary heaven.
The menu is small and offers seafood and meat, but it’s the seafood they’re known for. The seafood fried rice is a meal all by itself. Its crammed with seafood from octopus, to clams and prawns. Try the fish in brown sauce and the curry prawns. The sweet chilli calamari is chewy (it is traditionally done so to provide a textural note to the meal). Stir fried chicken cubes with dried chillies is out of this world and any of the clam dishes can be recommended. Order some stir-fried veggies as a side. It provides a gentler flavour note and evens out the punchier dishes.
Go in a group and share, share, share. If its just two of you, you will be tempted to over order (pricing is incredibly reasonable), which isn’t so bad – you can take the leftovers home! Our reviewers went as a couple, had five dishes, ate it all, and needed a lie-down when they got home.
They’re not licenced, so bring your own, but there is a bottle store a few doors down, in case you forget.
