The Other Foundation is looking for some highly skilled and talented people to help further LGBTI issues in Southern Africa!
The Other Foundation is an LGBTI community foundation for southern Africa that advances the equality, freedom, and social inclusion of homosexual and bisexual women and men, and transgender and intersex people in 13 countries in southern Africa – recognizing the particular dynamics of race, poverty and inequality, sex, national origin, heritage, and politics in the southern Africa region. It does this by working as a fundraiser, a grant maker, and a movement builder.
The Foundation is looking for a diverse select ion of talented, self-motivated, experienced, innovative, highly skilled and well-networked southern African people with a can-do attitude, a commitment to excellence and a proven track record, to appoint to the following senior positions:
Head of Programmes:
Working with a small team of programme officers and the chief executive officer, the successful candidate will take full responsibility to lead and manage the conceptualization, development, and implementation of programmes that give expression to the purpose and mission of the Foundation across a wide range of content areas relating to equality, economic empowerment, social inclusion, and safety of LGBTI people in southern Africa – and the development of philanthropy related to this work – including knowledge development, policy and strategy development, planning and implementation of specific programmes, identification and establishment of relationships with strategic partners, managing implementation to achieve results (including detailed and hands-on involvement in grant making), budget management, ensuring programme quality, monitoring and assessing the impact of programmes, donor liaison and organizational representation as may be required.
Head of Operations:
Working in a small team and the chief executive officer, the successful candidate will take full responsibility to initiate, develop and manage the implementation of administrative and operational systems that advance the efficient and effective delivery of the Foundation’s mission and strategies, including overall responsibility for coordinating the planning of operational activities, oversee financial administration (including procurement and payment systems), provide and maintain information and communications infrastructure and resources, ensure the provision and maintenance of office facilities, facilitate human resource management systems, provide and maintain the ‘tools of the trade’ of the Foundation, ensure risk assessment and mitigation, and coordinate the management of support personnel. At least 5 years of experience in a similar post is required.

The Foundation and these posts are based in Johannesburg. All posts are fixed-term contract based. The ability to communicate in English is a requirement. The ability to communicate in French and/or Portuguese as well, will give candidates an advantage.
