The gorgeous, dynamically well-endowed Eclipse Cross now ticks all the boxes with the fun new ultra-responsive charged engine.
“The new Eclipse Cross was a hit from the word go,” says Nic Campbell, General Manager of Mitsubishi Motors SA (MMSA). “The new model builds on this success and will attract lifestyle-orientated buyers looking for outstanding value to complement Mitsubishi Motors’ excellent safety offering across all our models.”
The Eclipse Cross pioneers Mitsubishi’s new, slightly smaller 1,5-litre four-cylinder turbo engine, than the originally launched 2,0-litre naturally aspirated power plant. Downsized for efficiency and turbocharged for powerful torque at low-to-mid engine speeds, the newly developed engine is far more willing and able with fleetfooted performance to shame Hermes.
A single-scroll turbo charger increases the power to 110kW that enables standstill to 100km/h in just under 9 seconds in Sport Mode.
Tactile features of the Eclipse Cross 1.5T includes metal paddle shifts within fingertip range behind the steering wheel that adds more charm to the sporty driving dynamics.
Spaciousness in the Eclipse Cross compact crossover with generous headroom and cosseting plush seats belies its exterior dimensions. Getting in and out is easy due to large door openings, a high roof and seats with a reasonably low floor.
A full-size alloy spare wheel still leaves plenty of room for a load of luggage. If you are shorter than 1,85m you will be able to appreciate head-up display (HUD), which reflects relevant vehicle information in full colour on a glass panel above the instrument cluster for easy viewing without distraction.
Apart from the new LEDs and HUD, the sporty and cosy cockpit includes next-generation technology and connectivity, enhancing driver awareness and control, with just about anything you could think of from Bluetooth with Hands-free Voice Control to Electric Adjustable Driver Seat and Heated Front Seats.
State-of-the-art safety features could match any dinner party challenge from owners with far more expensive vehicles.
