Apple unveiled the ‘2024 Pride Collection’, on Monday, that includes a new Apple Watch Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop stretchable watch band, which will be on sale starting May 22, along with a matching watch face and dynamic iOS and iPadOS wallpapers. The Pride collection wallpapers, which for the first time can be customised to show custom colours that represent the diversity and vibrancy of LGBTQ+ communities.

The Apple Watch Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop, priced at Rs 9,500, is available in 41mm and 45 mm sizes and is compatible with Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 4, and newer models.

Apple first introduced the Apple Watch Pride Edition in 2016 distributed exclusively to its employees, and since then, the company has been announcing new Pride-themed products, with the first Pride Edition wristband unveiled at World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2017.

According to Apple, the Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop evokes “the strength and beauty of LGBTQ+ communities with a vibrant, fluorescent design inspired by multiple pride flags”, and features a laser-etched lug that reads PRIDE 2024.

The new Pride-themed dynamic wallpapers for iPad, iPhone, and watch face for Apple Watch will be available via a software update (watchOS 10.5, iOS 17.5, and iPadOS 17.5) on eligible models. These new wallpapers include “beams of light glow against a dark background and stack on top of each other”, representing the impact of LGBTQ+ activism and its role. These can be customised, and the number on the watch face reacts in real-time as the user moves his hand.

With the Pride collection, Apple continues its support for LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations to bring positive change in the world in collaboration with the Human Rights Campaign, a global advocacy group.

The colours used (Black and Brown) on the Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop also represent Black, Hispanic, and Latin communities along with those impacted by HIV/AIDS, while colours like pink, light blue, and white represent transgender and non-binary individuals.
