Good Hope FM, Cape Town’s Original, will once again be donning its brightest colours in supporting the Pride Parade and Mardi Gras that is set to cheer up Cape Town’s streets in March.

The 2025 edition of the Pride Parade and Mardi Gras, a firm crowd favourite and calendar highlight, will take place on Saturday, 1 March 2025 – a powerful explosion of colour to end off a 3 week-long Pride Festival on a high note.

The theme for this year’s Pride – the Mother City’s biggest LGBTQI+ celebration – is RainbowID, encouraging each person to embrace and celebrate their true colours under the rainbow

The Pride Parade will be starting off at the De Waterkant district of Green Point and will culminate at the Green Point Track, where festivities continue at the Pride Mardi Gras.

Aside from colour flooding the streets, there’s also some top-notch entertainment to look forward to: Craig Lucas and his band, Jimmy Nevis, He Plays Violin, soprano Lynelle Kenned, DJ Lelowhatsgood, MC Squared, Morocco based DJ MR. LOVING, Stella Rosé and The Kings Collab (a Drag Kings and Things collective), with a taste of the Ballroom scene returning after the Voguers burnt up the Pride stage last year, and 3 Tons of Fun also back by popular demand.

In a major scoop, the stars of the hit show “Beaulah: Queens van de Kaap” will also be taking to the stage.

Good Hope FM will be broadcasting live from the event, with The Matinee with Garth B lined up from 12:00 – 15:00 and The Weekend Special with Carissa Cupido from 15:00 – 18:00. Good Hope FM personalities, Kyeezi and LV, will also be DJing live from the stage.

Tollie Parton, star of the hit Showmax talk Show, “Die Tollie & Manila Show”, will be the MC for the day along with Jarrad Ricketts, who will also be performing.

There will be a wide range of food trucks to satisfy any hunger, including vegan and halal options, as well as a Pride Market, selling a variety of goods from rainbow themed items, jewellery, artworks, a glitter bar, temporary tattoos and much more.

In addition, there will be an NGO Village where different organisations who work in within the LGBTIQ+ sector can promote the work they do.

Newly appointed Cape Town Pride Brand Ambassador Nkosinathi Sangweni waka Mtshali, says, “As Cape Town comes alive with the colours of Pride 2025, let us take a moment to honour those who paved the way for our freedoms while holding space for those who, for various reasons, cannot celebrate with us. Pride is a moment of joy and unity, but it is also a reminder of the work that remains. So, let’s march, dance, and celebrate—but let’s not be oblivious to the fight that continues for equal rights, representation, and justice for all.”

Good Hope FM and 5FM Business Manager, Masi Mdingane, says, “It’s a privilege for us to flood the streets – and the airwaves – with all the Mother City’s most vibrant colours. Not only for the amazing festival that it is, but also for the powerful message that it sends about being one united, equal, ubuntu-fuelled nation, no matter what a person’s colour or creed. We look forward to another beautiful and inspiring event.”
