In case you didn’t know, January is also the month of Veganuary, a chance to reevaluate one’s consumption of animal products.

Wife-and-husband team Jane Land and Matthew Glover started Veganuary 12 years ago after meeting on a vegan dating site in 2011. Land was vegetarian at the time of her first date but went full vegan at her future husband’s urging, as she told The Guardian in 2024.

With Veganuary, the couple encourages followers to give up animal products for 31 days, and at least half of participants cut meat and dairy from their lives for good or make substantive changes to their diet, Land and Glover estimate.

Glover went vegan to reduce animal suffering, and Land became an animal campaigner after seeing the horrific treatment of animals on factory farms and in slaughterhouses, according to their Veganuary bios.

“The fact is, we’re not going to see the world we’d ideally like to see in our lifetimes,” Glover explained to The Guardian. “We’re in a relay race. We’re not going to see the finish line — but we will pass the baton on.”

Meanwhile, on social media, gays who are vegans year-round are showing off their meals — and often a whole lot more — as you’ll see in the pics below!
