Standard sizing is based on mass production, and bodies rarely fit neatly into those measurements. Shoulders may be broader than expected, hips narrower, sleeves too short, waists too high, or jackets that fit perfectly in one area may be uncomfortable in another.
The result is that shopping for clothes can sometimes become an exercise in compromise rather than an enjoyable experience.

A custom-made garment begins not with a size label, but with the individual. Measurements, proportions, posture, personal style and comfort all become part of the design process. The aim is not to make someone fit the garment, but to make the garment fit the person. Each client has a pattern drafted specifically for their body and from there a mock-up is made to check the fit. Only when the mock-up fits, is the actual fabric cut and the garment stitched. This is done even where the garment is more free-flowing, like an abaya. These basic patterns become the blueprint from which all future garments are made for that particular client.
Whether it is a sharply tailored jacket, an elegant evening gown, a matric dance outfit or wedding attire, bespoke clothing allows every detail to be considered. Fabric, colour, silhouette and finishing touches can all be chosen to reflect the wearer’s personality rather than simply what happens to be available on a shop rail.
