I am a South African writer, television director, educator, and lifelong storyteller whose work is rooted in the human condition — in how people love, endure, wound one another, and try to make their way back to themselves.
Over a career spanning several decades, I have worked across documentary, educational television, corporate communications, and music video production, telling stories shaped by place, memory, and the quiet, complicated truths of ordinary lives.
As a gay man who came of age during a very different era in South Africa, my writing is informed by personal experience and a fascination with the ways in which love, desire, loss, addiction, and resilience intersect. I am drawn to stories about connection, belonging, and the often-messy process of becoming who we are.
A Spray of Diamonds is my debut novel and the first in a planned trilogy. More than ten years in the making, it is a deeply personal coming-of-age story that explores love, identity, friendship, addiction, self-discovery, and the often-toxic relationships and environments that can shape the course of our lives. Set against the backdrop of South Africa’s evolving social landscape, the trilogy examines not only how we find ourselves, but also how easily we can lose ourselves in the pursuit of acceptance, desire, and belonging.
Although the novel is fiction, many of its emotional truths are drawn from my own experiences. Writing it required me to revisit relationships, choices, and periods of my life that were among the most destructive and devastating I have ever endured. Reliving those experiences was often difficult, but it also allowed me to find meaning in them and ultimately transform them into a story of survival, redemption, and resilience.
Currently available as an eBook, A Spray of Diamonds marks the beginning of a larger literary journey, with subsequent volumes already in development and opportunities for wider publication being actively explored.
