Aneesh Sheth has said she experienced pay disparity and mistreatment while working on LGBTQ+ film Red, White & Royal Wedding.
Sheth, who is transgender, is returning as Secret Service agent Amy Gupta in the sequel to Prime Video’s Red, White & Royal Blue, alongside Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez.
“with everything going on politically, hiring a trans person for a film/tv show could potentially alienate audiences slash not be lucrative. It’s ridiculous,” she said.
“I’ve worked in this industry for almost 30 years. And now I’m being told I can’t get work simply because of who I am.”
Red, White & Royal Wedding is directed by Jamie Babbit, with a screenplay by Gemma Burgess, Matthew López and Casey McQuiston. A release date is yet to be announced.
