What would you do for a little more girth? That question sits at the centre of Manhood, a new documentary from director Daniel Lombroso and executive producers World Of Wonder, Sheila Nevins and Penny Lane.

It follows Dallas entrepreneur Bill Moore as he tries to make penis enlargement “as commonplace as Botox”, and the official trailer is out now.
Moore opened his flagship Dallas clinic in 2003. He later developed PhalloFill, a series of hyaluronic acid filler injections used to widen the penis, and his business now has clinics in more than 30 states, according to D Magazine. “It’s OK to want to have a larger penis,” he says early in the film.

Lombroso spent two years following two of Moore’s patients. David Smith is a gay OnlyFans creator from Florida who arrives after a botched procedure elsewhere and needs reconstructive surgery. Ruben Ramirez is a father of five who gets hooked on Moore’s subscription-style treatments.
IndieWire called it a “bizarre and sensitive” documentary, and the director says the absurd premise is the point. “The hook is so ridiculous that it allows you to tell a more tender story about modern men,” Lombroso told D Magazine.

It is his second feature. His first, White Noise, spent four years inside the white power movement. In his director’s statement for Manhood, he wrote that he came to see “male insecurity, as much as ideology,” as “the fuel of extremism.” The film premiered at SXSW (South By Southwest) in Austin in March.
The film opens at the Laemmle NoHo in Los Angeles on 28 October and at Village East by Angelika in New York on 30 October, with a wider US release the following week. It arrives on video on demand on 17 November. The film’s website also lists a screening at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, which runs from 13 to 22 November.
