Plans are well underway for Cape Town Pride 2023. Applications to the City of Cape Town have been submitted and are being processed.
The Launch of Cape Town Pride 2023 will take place on Saturday, 26th November 2022, and will once again be hosted at the Embassy of Belgium Consular residence in Newlands.
Present at this event will be the Cape Town Pride working committee as well as representatives from the Embassy of Belgium and other notable dignitaries.
The past director of Cape Town Pride, Matthew Van As has stepped down, citing health issues, and has resigned from Cape Town Pride and Outreach Africa which organises Pride in Cape Town.
We take this opportunity to welcome Wenzel April as the new Festival Director of Cape Town Pride 2023 and wish him well in the huge task he is undertaking, and we look forward to support from the LGBT+ community in the City in this endeavour.
Wenzel is well known to our community and needs no introduction. He might be better known as his drag persona, Wendy LaRosa, who has in the past held the coveted title of Miss Cape Town Pride and who currently sits on the management committee of Impulse NGO.
The Launch of Cape Town Pride 2023 will be a day of celebration with live performers on stage. There will be bars and stalls, and it will be an opportunity to once again connect with friends and other people in our diverse, colourful, and creative community. The calendar of events for Pride 2023 will be released as well as ticket sales information for the Pride Festival on the 4th March 2023 and a lucky entrant at the Pride Launch will win a place on the LGBT+ cruise, happening in Pride month 2023.
The entrance to the Pride Launch 2023 is limited to 1000 people and details will be announced on all social media platforms and the Cape Town Pride website in the next few weeks. Keep an eye out on social media for further information …
