Treat is the brainchild of Murray Pienaar, a restaurant-trained chef who is passionate about introducing the world to the beauty and wonders of South African cuisine.
Drawing on his diverse background in wine, business, and sustainable food systems, Murray has created a unique catering and private chef business based in Plettenberg Bay that celebrates the flavours of his beloved home country.
Before launching Treat in 2019, Murray studied BSc Agricultural Science (Viticulture and Oenology) at the University of Stellenbosch, received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from GIBS (University of Pretoria), and studied towards a Diploma in Sustainable Food Systems from The Sustainability Institute in Stellenbosch. Having worked in the restaurant industry for the past decade, Murray is a master of his craft. His company is dedicated to creating delicious and nutritious meals for individuals, groups, and special events – introducing the world to the true taste of South Africa. Treat is committed to providing dishes that are as delightful for the palette as they are for the environment.
Growing up on a farm he lived very close to the natural environment and experienced first-hand what tremendous impact responsible farming and business practices that his father followed had on the environment and the community. Running a business with sustainable development principles as foundation is therefore very close to his heart and affirms his belief that: “We come to this world to make it better.”
