Geely aims to make electric driving more affordable – by Rubin van Niekerk

Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly attainable for South African motorists, and Geely believes its latest finance offer could encourage more buyers to make the switch.

Through Geely Finance, the all-electric Geely E2 is now available from R3,999 per month on a 48-month Guaranteed Future Value (GFV) agreement, with a 10% deposit. The finance package is designed to lower monthly repayments while giving buyers greater flexibility when the agreement ends.

Designed primarily for city driving, the E2 is powered by an 85kW electric motor producing 150Nm of instant torque. Its 39.4kWh battery delivers a claimed driving range of up to 325km (WLTP), while DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in around 25 minutes.

Despite its compact dimensions, the E2 offers a practical interior with a 375-litre luggage compartment, an additional front storage compartment, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument display. Depending on the model, advanced driver assistance features are also available.

Ownership costs are further supported by an eight-year/200,000km battery warranty, a four-year/150,000km vehicle warranty, a five-year/100,000km service plan, five years of unlimited roadside assistance and a complimentary home Wallbox charger.

According to Geely South Africa, the combination of lower monthly repayments and comprehensive ownership benefits is intended to make electric motoring a realistic option for a broader range of South African buyers.
