Trust The Man is a Vietnam War thriller from writer-director Will Graham, and the cast list has just filled up with names our readers know well. Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff lead, with Victor Garber, Angus O’Brien, Justice Smith, Kate Mara, Finn Wittrock and Jack Ball joining the ensemble, Deadline reported on 11 August 2026.
Graham’s film follows an ambitious Army Intelligence officer assigned to investigate a decorated soldier with a mysterious past. “As surveillance and interrogation deepen, the line between loyalty and obsession blurs, leading both men into a dangerous and uncontrollable connection,” reads the official logline. Character details for the newer cast members are being kept quiet, so we don’t know yet who plays whom outside the two leads.
Garber, who married artist Rainer Andreesen in 2015, has been an out gay actor for years. Groff came out in 2009 and is now one of the most visible gay leading men working on Broadway. Justice Smith came out as queer in 2020. Angus O’Brien is openly gay, which made his casting as the aggressively straight Hicks in Netflix’s Boots one of last year’s better ironies. Radcliffe, for his part, has backed The Trevor Project for more than a decade.
Groff And Radcliffe, Take Two
The pair last shared a stage in the 2023 Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along, where both won Tony Awards in June 2024. Groff boarded Trust The Man in June after Lucas Hedges left the project over scheduling conflicts. Filming took place in New Jersey and has since wrapped. Groff was also named to the TIME100 list in April for his performance as Bobby Darin in Just In Time.
Graham is queer and nonbinary and uses he/they pronouns. He co-created A League Of Their Own with Abbi Jacobson and picked up an Emmy nomination for directing an episode of Daisy Jones And The Six. When Amazon dropped A League Of Their Own, Graham told queer fans, “You are powerful. You are the future.” That history is a decent reason to trust him with material this loaded.
For O’Brien, it also means a return to uniform after Netflix cancelled Boots in December 2025. There’s no release date yet. Neon International is handling international sales, with UTA Independent Film Group covering the domestic side.
